Acupuncture for Psoriasis & Eczema in Dubai

Living with eczema or psoriasis is exhausting in a way that is hard to convey to anyone who has not experienced it. The relentless itch, the visible redness and scaling, the broken sleep and the self-consciousness all take a toll, and flare-ups can feel like they come out of nowhere. At Yuan Qi Acupuncture Center in Business Bay, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to help ease the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis, such as itch and discomfort, and to support the stress side of these conditions, working alongside your skin care.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, chronic skin conditions are seen as outward signs of an inner imbalance, often involving heat, dampness or dryness in the body and a disturbance in the flow of Qi and blood. Acupuncture aims to support the body's balance and circulation, which may help calm the symptoms and reduce how reactive the skin feels. We approach these conditions gently and honestly, focusing on relief and support rather than promises.

Understanding the approach

How can acupuncture help eczema and psoriasis?

Acupuncture is used to help ease the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis, particularly the itch and discomfort, and to calm the stress that so often triggers or worsens flare-ups. By stimulating specific points, treatment aims to support circulation and help the body feel more balanced, which may ease how irritated and reactive the skin feels. Because stress is such a common flare trigger, calming the nervous system is an important part of how treatment helps.

Many people with eczema and psoriasis notice their skin worsens during stressful or run-down periods, and sleep suffers when the itch is bad, which feeds the cycle. By supporting better sleep and easing stress alongside the skin symptoms, treatment aims to help with this whole picture. Responses vary from person to person, and we are always realistic that this is supportive care worked steadily over time, not a quick fix.

Supportive Acupuncture for Psoriasis & Eczema at Yuan Qi Acupuncture Center, Business Bay Dubai

An important note: eczema and psoriasis are long-term conditions that cannot be cured, and acupuncture is supportive care, not a cure or a replacement for your medical treatment. Please continue with your dermatologist or doctor and any prescribed treatment. What acupuncture can offer alongside that is help with the itch and discomfort, support for the stress that often triggers flares, and a gentle, whole-body approach to feeling better.

The approach

A gentle, combined approach

For eczema and psoriasis we often complement acupuncture with gentle supporting therapies, guided by the assessment:

  • Chinese herbal medicine, where suitable, prescribed after a proper assessment to support your wellbeing from within.
  • Treatment aimed at stress and sleep, since both strongly influence flare-ups and the itch-scratch cycle.
  • A whole-body approach that looks at diet, stress and lifestyle alongside the skin symptoms.

We keep the approach gentle and realistic, focused on easing symptoms and supporting you through flares rather than promising clear skin. We will always work alongside your dermatology care, not in place of it, and are happy to support whatever treatment plan your doctor has put in place.

Gentle, whole-body acupuncture approach for skin conditions in Dubai
Your first visit

What to expect at your first visit

Your first visit begins with an unhurried consultation. We ask about your skin condition, how long you have had it, your flare-up triggers, your sleep, stress and diet, and your medical history, including any treatment your dermatologist has prescribed. In keeping with Chinese medicine we usually check your tongue and pulse too. We then plan gentle, supportive treatment suited to you.

The needles are very fine, far thinner than the needles used for injections, and most people feel little more than a small pinch. We take particular care to place needles in healthy skin, avoiding broken or actively inflamed areas. You rest with the needles in place for around twenty to thirty minutes. Afterwards we explain what we found and suggest a realistic schedule, since support for skin conditions works best steadily over a course of sessions.

Yes, absolutely. Please continue with your dermatologist or doctor and any prescribed treatment. Acupuncture is supportive care that works alongside your medical skin care, never in place of it.

Easing the itch and discomfort of eczema and psoriasis is one of the main things acupuncture aims to help with as supportive care, which can also help break the itch-scratch cycle that disturbs sleep.

Very often, yes. Stress is a common trigger for flare-ups. Because acupuncture is calming, part of how it helps is by easing stress, which many people find helps with their skin alongside the direct symptom relief.

Night-time itching often disrupts sleep, which then feeds the cycle. By easing the itch and calming the nervous system, treatment can help support better sleep during flares.

Support for skin conditions works best over a steady course rather than a single session. Responses vary, so we suggest a realistic plan after your consultation and adjust it as you respond.

Most people feel very little. The needles are far thinner than injection needles. You may feel a small pinch, and the session is generally very relaxing.

No. We take particular care to place needles in healthy skin, avoiding broken or actively inflamed areas, and choose points across the body suited to your condition.

Yes, when performed by a licensed practitioner with sterile, single-use needles and careful point selection. Side effects are minor, usually slight bruising or short-lived tiredness. Our clinic follows DHA standards.

Where suitable, we may prescribe Chinese herbal medicine alongside acupuncture, tailored to you after a proper assessment, to support your wellbeing from within.

Treatment aims to help ease the symptoms of a flare, such as itch and irritation, and to support the stress and sleep side that often comes with it. It works best as ongoing supportive care rather than only during a flare.

We do not promise clear or smooth skin, as these are chronic conditions that flare and settle. Our aim is to help ease symptoms and support you through difficult periods alongside your medical care.

We take an unhurried history of your skin condition, your triggers, sleep, stress and diet, and any treatment your dermatologist has prescribed, and usually check your tongue and pulse. We then plan gentle, supportive treatment suited to you.

Plan for around 45 minutes to an hour for a first visit, including the consultation. The needles are usually left in place for about 20 to 30 minutes while you rest.

It helps to note your flare-up triggers and what your skin has been like recently. Wear comfortable clothing that gives access to the areas we may need, and eat something light beforehand.

We treat acne and other skin problems on a dedicated page. Acupuncture is offered there as supportive care for those concerns. Ask us and we will guide you to the right support.

No referral is needed, though we will ask about your dermatology care and work alongside it. You can book a skin support consultation by phone, WhatsApp or through our website.
