Trying to conceive can be one of the most hopeful, and at times most stressful, journeys a person or couple goes through. The waiting, the uncertainty and the emotional ups and downs take a real toll, and many people look for gentle, natural ways to feel more supported and less overwhelmed along the way. At Yuan Qi Acupuncture Center in Business Bay, we offer acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as supportive, calming care for people who are trying to conceive, working alongside the care of your doctor or fertility specialist.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, wellbeing is understood through the smooth flow of Qi and blood and the balance of the body's systems, and treatment always takes a whole-body view. For people trying to conceive, our focus is on helping you feel calmer, more rested and better supported through the process, as a complement to your medical care. We are warm, realistic and honest about what acupuncture can offer, and we never make promises about conception.

Please know this clearly: acupuncture is supportive care, not a fertility treatment, and it is not a replacement for medical care. If you are trying to conceive or have any fertility concerns, please see your doctor or a fertility specialist, who can assess and advise you properly. Acupuncture can sit alongside that care to support your wellbeing and help you feel calmer, and if you are or may be pregnant, please tell us so we can adjust your treatment appropriately.
Acupuncture is used as supportive care to help people feel calmer and more relaxed while trying to conceive, by helping to ease stress, support better sleep and settle the nervous system. The journey to conception can be emotionally demanding, and stress and poor sleep can make it harder to feel like yourself. By supporting this side of your wellbeing, treatment aims to help you feel more grounded and cared for, alongside your medical care. Many people find the calm, unhurried space of a session valuable in itself during a stressful time.
We are realistic and honest about what this is: gentle support for your wellbeing during the process, not a treatment that changes fertility. Responses and experiences vary from person to person, and acupuncture works best as one supportive part of looking after yourself, alongside the medical care and advice of your fertility team.

Many of the people we see are also having medical fertility treatment, such as IVF or IUI, and are looking for supportive, calming care to help them through it. Acupuncture can sit alongside that treatment to support your wellbeing, and we are always happy to work in a way that fits around your medical schedule and the advice of your fertility clinic.
Whatever stage you are at, from just starting to try, to ongoing fertility treatment, our focus is the same: gentle, supportive care that helps you feel calmer and more supported, never adding pressure or making promises.
Fertility and hormonal health cover a lot of ground, and we treat several specific areas on their own pages, where you will find more detail. If your main concern is one of these, those pages are the best place to start:
Your first visit begins with an unhurried, understanding consultation. We ask about your health, your cycle if relevant, your stress, sleep and energy, where you are in your journey, and any fertility care or treatment you are having. In keeping with Chinese medicine we usually check your tongue and pulse too. We then plan gentle, supportive treatment that fits around your medical care, and there is no pressure at any point.
The needles are very fine, far thinner than the needles used for injections, and most people feel little more than a small pinch. The session is designed to be calm and restful, and you rest with the needles in place for around twenty to thirty minutes. Afterwards we explain what we found and suggest a gentle, realistic schedule. If you are or may be pregnant, always let us know so we can adjust your treatment.
I visited for spinal treatment and I'm extremely satisfied. The massage and cupping really helped my back pain — the therapists are skilled, knowledgeable and gentle.
